Best hamster cages for chewers
Before you buy a tougher cage: persistent bar-biting is the best-documented sign of an enclosure that is too small.
An IKEA DETOLF on its back: tempered glass on four sides, with nothing a hamster can get a tooth around. The BUCATSTATE 3.0 at 47 inches is the purpose-built equivalent. But before either: if your hamster bites bars persistently, the enclosure is very probably too small, and a tougher cage of the same size will produce the same behavior against a surface it cannot damage.
This is the one page on this site where the obvious purchase is usually the wrong first move, so we are going to spend the top of it on the diagnosis rather than the products.
What bar-biting actually is
Hamsters gnaw. Incisors grow continuously and wear is normal and necessary, so a hamster chewing a wooden toy, a cardboard tube or a piece of untreated softwood is doing exactly what it should. That is not what people mean by a chewer.
What people mean is the other thing: a hamster that stands at the same point on the bars and bites them repetitively, often at the same time each night, sometimes for long periods. That is a stereotypy — a repetitive behavior with no function, which develops in animals whose environment does not let them do what they are motivated to do. In hamsters it is strongly associated with enclosures that are too small and with a lack of substrate to dig in.

So the order of operations is: measure the enclosure, then measure the bedding depth, then look at the wheel, and only then consider the material. A hamster on 400 square inches with two inches of bedding will find something to do with its teeth in any enclosure you buy. Is my hamster cage too small is the diagnostic version of this.

Give it something it is supposed to chew
A chew-proof enclosure without anything to gnaw is half a solution. Untreated softwood blocks, plain cardboard, seagrass and willow all work and all get destroyed, which is the point. Cardboard is free and is the single most reliably used enrichment item in most setups.
Avoid anything painted, varnished, glued along a seam, or sold as a mineral or salt lick. Cage materials and safety covers what is safe to put inside an enclosure and why.

Not for anyone who wants an out-of-the-box solution. It is a cabinet, and turning it into safe housing is a small project with a mesh lid at the end of it.

Wrong for a hamster that climbs rather than digs. If your animal spends its waking hours on the bars, an enclosure with no bars removes most of what it does.

The largest mainstream single-piece hamster enclosure we could verify, and the only one whose external footprint clears our 775 sq in floor with room to spare even after you allow for wall thickness.

Skip it if you want to hose the enclosure out. MDF and water are a bad combination, and a glass tank or a coated-steel cage is the better choice for anyone who cleans that way.

What we would buy
For a hamster that has already been given adequate space and still works at an edge, a DETOLF. Glass on four sides is the end of the conversation on chew resistance, it clears the floor minimum by 40 percent, and it costs less than the purpose-built boxes. The catch is height, covered on the DETOLF conversion guide.
If you want that without the build, the BUCATSTATE 3.0 at 47 inches: acrylic panels in an aluminium frame, no accessible edge, more floor than the DETOLF.
We would not buy the Niteangel Vista for a known chewer. It is the best-looking enclosure here and MDF with a veneer is the one material on the table that a determined hamster can genuinely open up.
